The Namibia Sports Commission Mandate
- Manage and control the Sports Development Fund in an accountable, efficient manner;
- Coordinate, control, develop and foster sports;
- Ensure proper administration of national sporting bodies;
- Promote highest standards of sportsmanship;
- Ensure opportunities for sports are made available to all people throughout Namibia;
- Encourage the production of sports goods;
- Authorize national & international sports activities or events;
- Advise the Minister on the needs of sport;
- Organize courses for sports;
- Assist national sports bodies in recruitment of coaches and instructors;
- Undertake special projects after consultation with Minister (marketing, trading, fundraising);
- Coordinate sporting bodies;
- Develop, manage and supervise sports facilities under its control;
- Determine and give national sports awards;
- Ensure sporting bodies comply with the Act;
- Oversee sports activities of sportspersons not affiliated with any national sports body;
- Assist the sports bodies for the uniformed services in overseeing their activities and events.
